OK so this person might not be a celeb, but we thought it might be fun to take a peek in the make-up bag of a beauty industry insider…what better place to look than the Chemcorp International office – home of 1000 HOUR.

We snuck into one of our Creative team’s make-up bags and here’s what we found. We were going to keep it secret until we shared it on our social media channels, but we just had to ask - how many eye liners does one girl need?

Ecotools retractable brush – perfect for carrying around in a purse, as the lid keeps the bristles protected plus protects everything else from any colour left on the brush. No mess!

Revo lip balm – Strawberry is my favourite. I have one in this bag, and another five in various other bags. It really is one of my never-leave-home-without-it products. It’s creamy and tastes good too.

1000 HOUR hair colour mascara – I’ll admit it, sometimes my perfect hair colour is enhanced. Just like every other woman I hate greys showing! Sometimes I use it on my brows too.

Compact mirror – I hate applying make-up without a mirror and sometimes the only chance you get to reapply is on the go, so I carry one all the time.

Clinique mascara – I don’t use a lot of make-up but I do think great lashes are a must. I feel a bit naked without them. I’ll use falsies if I’m going to an event or for a big night out, but day to day, this is quick and easy.

Bare Minerals foundation – my skin needs a little help being flawless.

#1 Rimmel Eye Liner – I like this one for just a fine line, it’s quite a soft black so good for day make-up. It also smudges really well with the smudge sponge on…

#2 Undisclosed brand eyeliner – I’m almost out of this one, so stopped using it so I could keep the smudge sponge!

#3 1000 HOUR Xpress Lash-Gro – this is my all-out glam liner. It creates an amazing wing and stays put. An added benefit is the serum to enhance lashes whilst wearing (and yes I did a 4-week test and noticed improvements)

#4 Masterline Eye Liner – this is a bit deeper and darker so I tend to use it more at night if I’m not going all out with the Xpress. It creates a great solid line that stays put.

 

We think Susanna is right on trend. Flawless skin, brow and eye focus, with natural lips. And, a girl can never have too much black liner!

Its spring time which is my favourite time of the year for many reasons! The main reason being Spring Racing Carnival. Its the third consecutive year that I have been blessed to be invited to Melbourne to mingle with the best of them. Here is a list of things to keep in mind this season, your ultimate Spring Racing Survival guide

1. Practice different hairstyles with your fascinator (preferably before the big day). I often change my hair three times before I decide one is right for the size and shape of my fascinator.

2. My must have essential clutch items, compact mirror, mini perfume, bandaids and bobby pins.

3. Choose lashes that balance well with your fascinator, for example last year on Oaks day I wore a huge statement fascinator with some modest short individual lashes and on Derby day I wore a small simple headpiece with heavy black statement lashes (1000 hr Black Vogue is my choice).

4. Always carry a good quality finishing powder, if you are anything like me you will not want to fill your bag with heavy makeup but trust me when I say that you will need to re-powder throughout the day and there will be lots of photos! (I love prep+prime translucent powder by MAC).

5. It can be hard to feel and look fresh right through the day so ensure you have prepped as best as possible the day before. Get a professional spray tan as it is daytime and any streaks will be very noticeable in the bright day light. Tint your brows so that if your brow pencil wears off throughout the day you won't be brow less! (I love 1000hr eyelash and brow dye kit)

6. Choose a fresh fruity spring scent nothing too heavy for this time of the year, the air is fresh enough! (I am obsessed with Victoria Secret Angel at the moment, it will be my spring scent).

7. Don't be afraid of bold lip colours but apply them properly so that they last all day and don't bleed. Apply lip liner on the outline first and then colour in the rest of your lips, then use a translucent powder over the lipstick to set it for the entire day. (also don't forget to take your lipstick to re apply at some stage).

Now ladies, we all know the natural makeup look is anything but totally natural, but if you can get it right, you can rock it everyday. Warm peachy tones and ridiculously long eyelashes are what this season is all about! Enhance those beautiful natural features for a soft and wearable look.

Often natural makeup is the hardest to do, so today we’ve gone for a simple look that you can pull together without too much hassle, after all, who has time to perfectly wing their eyeliner everyday? 

Step 1. Tame your brows 
Nothing makes you seem more naturally put together than brows that look like they’ve come straight from Instagram. To begin, grab your tweezers to pluck away those strays, be careful not to over do it, and just stick to the outliers.

If you feel like you need to fill in your brows, just use a little product and softly fill in without creating harsh lines. 


Step 2. Face your base

Step 3. Glow baby!

So, here are our four fave how-to hacks for fixing some common makeup fails:

1. Mismatched foundation
I think we’re all guilty of this one. Choosing the perfect foundation colour is hard. Too light, too dark, too orange! Our best advice is that you don’t need to use just one foundation to create the perfect base. There are lots of skin tones on the face and neck area, so try mixing multiple shades to create the perfect tone. 2. Bad brows

4. Unblended eye shadow
Unblended eye shadow will do the complete opposite of your desired look! The dark smoky eye you hope to achieve can look “muddy” making your eyes appear smaller; it will also look harsh and unfinished. In order to achieve fabulously done eye-makeup, the Real Techniques Miracle Mini Eraser Sponges are ideal for blending into small creases, sweeping up eye shadow fall-out and fixing mishaps. It’s also great for blending colour close to the lash- line!  

5. We’re drawing the line on overdone lips
